About the artist
Born in 1920, Shogo Okamoto was a print artist active during the Showa Period (1926-1989). Okamoto attended Tokyo University of Fine Arts, working mainly in etching and aquatint. During the 1970s and 1980s, Okamoto participated in exhibitions in Japan, Canada, France, and China before becoming a professor of printmaking in China in 1983. He is known for his masterful landscapes, whether black-and-white or bursting with color.
