A Small World

A Small World View Works

Brilliant and sensitive, playful and intimate, the illustrations from Utamaro's masterpiece Ehon Mushi Erabi ( A Selection of Insects) are universally considered one of the hallmarks of woodblock printmaking. As a lover of nature from childhood, Utamaro based these realistic designs on his observations from the garden. Softly colored and exquisitely rendered with an elegant arrangement of space, each print is a double page design with an accompanying humorous kyoka verse. Ronin Gallery is pleased to present these prints in conjunction with other works from our collection that portray "A Small World."
