Lippens, Josée (1948 - Present)

Josée Lippens is a French-Canadian mixed media artist. With roots in textile arts, her work brings together different materials through expressive stitching. From antique Japanese fabrics and contemporary textiles, to photographs and hand-painted papers, Lippens’ compositions are richly layered and tactile. Born in Montreal, she received her BFA from L'École des Beaux-Arts de Montreal. She has participated in group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico since the 1970s. Today, Josée Lippens lives and works in New York City.
