About the artist

Shuntei Katsukawa was a pupil of Shunei and a member of the Katsukawa School. Shuntei is known for his woodblock prints of battle scenes, warriors, and kabuki actors. He also produced some surimono (deluxe, lavishly printed privately-commissioned prints) and numerous illustrations for popular books. Throughout his career, Shuntei experimented with one-point perspective through background landscapes and uki-e.
