About the artist
Yoshimitsu Sasaki was an Osaka-based print artist active from 1873 through 1880. Born as Kazo Sasamoto, Yoshimitsu studied under Yoshitaki Utagawa (1841-1899). Yoshimitsu’s known work mainly consists of chuban-size (7.5 x 10 in) yakusha-e, or actor prints. Today, his work can be found in institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
