About the artist

Utagawa Hiroshige III was born Ando Tokubei and studied woodblock printing under the famous Hiroshige I. Around 1865, Hiroshige II retired to Yokohama and took the name Hiroshige III. His work is bears similarities to that of his teacher. Hiroshige III depicted scenes from Tokyo, as well as the building of Japan's railroads. His work is included in collections such as The British Museum, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
