Ronin Gallery is very pleased to present its spring in-gallery exhibition, Yoshitoshi: An Eccentric Genius. Through a curated selection of his most celebrated works this exhibition explores the visionary world of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. It features standout designs from his most iconic series—One Hundred Views of the Moon, Thirty-Two Aspects of Women, and New Forms of Thirty-Six Ghosts—alongside exceptional individual works. At its center is Yoshitoshi’s masterpiece, Fujiwara no Yasumasa Plays the Flute by Moonlight (1883), one of the most coveted images in Japanese printmaking. Widely regarded as the last great master of ukiyo-e, Yoshitoshi transformed classical subjects into deeply expressive, often haunting compositions that balanced technical brilliance with psychological intensity.
