Strong Women

Fearless warrior women can be found throughout the history of Japan. These celebrated figures wielded a powerful influence over the imagination of artists and audiences of the Edo period and continue to inspire today's talents. Ronin Gallery is pleased to present a collection of 17th through 21st century woodblock prints and paintings that depict such strong women. In contrast to the familiar delicate beauties of ukiyo-e, these works portray female warriors of formidable strength and spirit.
