About the artist
Syu Sarashina is a 20th-century Japanese printmaker known for his textured, layered etchings. Born in Hokkaido, he studied printmaking in Tokyo in addition to his studies at Hokkaido University of Education. A member of the Japan Print Association, Sarashina has exhibited his work throughout Japan and beyond since the 1960s. His work can be found in the permanent collection of the Hokkaido Modern Art Museum.
