About the artist
Yoshito Arichi is a Japanese woodblock printmaker best known for his abstract aquatints. Born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1949, Arichi studied printmaking both at Bradford College of Art and Design in England as well as under Yoshio Yamanobe at Nihon University in Tokyo. As Arichi layers ellipses, sheer colors and embossing, his richly textured compositions pull the viewer into an abstracted universe. His work has been exhibited internationally and can be found in the permanent collection of institutions such as the British Museum and the Library of Congress.
