About the artist

Zuigetsu Ikeda was a painter and print designer active during the early 20th century. Little is known about this artist. He is best known for lush floral prints based off his paintings. In the 1930s, he adapted his paintings of wealthy businessman Shotaro Kaga’s vast orchid collection at Ozayamaki Villa into a limited edition series of prints published by Uchida. Twelve of these designs were reprinted in 2006.
