About the artist
Toshinobu Okumura was a woodblock print artist active during the early 18th century. A student of Masanobu Okumura, Toshinobu produced many early color beni-e (red pictures) and urushi-e (prints with a lacquer-like surface effect). His subjects range from merchants to actors.
