Original print artist : Torii Kiyonobu (1664 - 1729)

About the artist

Kiyomine Torii (or Kiyomitsu II) was a painter and printmaker active during the early 19th century. The grandson of Kiyomitsu Torii I, Kiyomine became the student of Kiyonaga Torii in 1795. Kiyomine worked mainly in the bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) genre early in his career. Following the death of his teacher in 1815, Kiyomine became the fifth-generation head of the Torii school, assumed the name Kiyomitsu II, and is said to have stopped designing prints.
