Takashi Ito was born in near Hamamatsu in 1894. He began his career as a painter, studying Japanese-style painting with Kaburagi Kiyokata, with Yuki Somei, and as a student at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. As a printmaker, Ito is known for the collection of landscape prints that he completed between 1922 and the 1930s for the famed publisher Watanabe .
