Contemporary Talents of Japan 2017

Ronin Gallery is pleased to present a selection of talented Japanese contemporary artists in the 2nd annual Contemporary Talents of Japan exhibition. Featuring the woodblock prints of Katsutoshi Yuasa, the 2017 winner of the Ronin|Globus Artist-in-Residence Program, this exhibition considers an enduring aesthetic in the contemporary imagination. The theme for the 2017 AIR program and exhibition is iki, a traditional Japanese aesthetic distinguished by the careful interplay between the romantic and the straightforward, the refined and the daring. Contemporary Talents of Japan presents diverse interpretations of this theme as artists use contemporary processes to challenge traditional media.
