Joshua Rome (b. 1953) is an American artist who studied and worked in Japan for over 30 years. His woodblock prints are notable for their warm tones and bright flashes of color, blending Western concepts of design with a distinctly Japanese feeling for space. He achieves a mesmerizing sense of depth without sacrificing the purity of line inherent to Japanese design. Rome not only generates his design, but carves his own blocks and does his own printing. His works are sort after by American and Japanese collectors alike and can be found in major museums worldwide.
