Korn, Marian (1914 - 1987 )

Marian Korn was an American artist who lived in worked in Japan. Her prints range in subject – lighthearted figural designs to more introspective abstraction. In 1949, she and her husband moved to Tokyo to work on postwar redevelopment. During her time in Japan, Korn turned her attention to art and began to study printmaking. She began actively producing prints in the 1970s and remained active through the 1980s. In 2015 her work was featured in the solo exhibition An American Artist in Postwar Japan: The Prints of Marian Korn at Honolulu Academy of Arts.
