Sano, Seiji (1959 - Present)

Born in Shizuoka prefecture in 1959, Seiji Sano moved to the creative center of Kyoto in 1978. He studied textile design before turning to the woodblock print medium in 1984. A student of the popular printmaker Masao Ido, Sano gravitated towards the themes of his teacher: lush landscapes, rural villages, and other scenes from Japan’s countryside. His work can be found in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum.
