A Japan Art Association member from 1959 and International Association of Art member from 1964, Nobuteru Shimotakahara was a celebrated printmaker and artist. A member of several additional art associations, and the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Sozo and Kodo Arts awards, Shimotakahara had several independent exhibitions in Japan from 1956 - 1964, before moving to New York and exhibiting from 1965 -1975. Shimotakahara passed away in New York in June 2006.
