Hokumyo (fl. c. 1830-1837) View Works

Though only six of Hokumyo’s compositions are known today, he was one of the more prolific artists in Hokuei’s circle. The year 1832 was likely the most active for this small circle of Osaka artists, for all members (including Hokumyo, Hokusei (Hokkai), Hokugan, Hokuju, and Hokushin) were active. Hokumyo contributed to the series Costume Parade of the Kita-Shinchi Quarter in Osaka in 1836-1837. Activity ceased following Hokuei’s death in circa 1837.
