About Ronin Gallery
The Ronin Gallery is a leading Japanese and East Asian art gallery in New York City and home to the largest collection of 17th – 21st century Japanese prints for sale in the United States. For 40 years our mission has been to introduce the best of Japan and East Asia’s traditional and emerging artistic talents to a global clientele.
Founded in 1975 in the Explorers Club Mansion of New York City, the gallery has since relocated to our current home: a 3,000 SF gallery and exhibition space on Madison Avenue and 49th Street. Just blocks from Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, St Patrick’s Cathedral and Fifth Avenue, Ronin Gallery brings East Asian art to the heart of New York City.
Since its inception the gallery has been family owned and operated. Currently under second-generation management, Ronin Gallery continues to epitomize the highest standards of quality and expertise within our field. An expert staff, with a combined 100 years of experience in the arts of East Asia, is available to help with collection counseling, framing, conservation, consignment, sales, artist development, exhibition management and more.
Ronin Gallery has been at the intersection of art and technology for over 20 years. Beginning with the launch of our first virtual gallery in the early 90’s, we have strived to combine traditional gallery charm with an innovative digital experience. We embrace the Internet’s ability to bridge geographic boundaries and reach a global clientele in over 90 countries.
Curating four to eight in-gallery exhibitions per year, Ronin Gallery publishes weekly online exhibitions as well. The gallery is committed to the highest levels of scholarship and cooperates with top museums and universities on research projects, educational events, and academic exhibitions. In addition, we uphold a tradition of combining art shows with philanthropic causes to facilitate charitable giving.
Over the past 40 years we have traveled to over 150 countries on five continents to collect rare and unique art to bring to the market. We have an extensive network of collectors, artists and international dealers, as well as a long track record of successfully introducing our clients to the best of Japanese and emerging East Asian arts. It has been our pleasure and joy to help our clientele, whether first time buyers or revered art institutions, build “collections, rather than accumulations,” of artwork.
