About the artist
Sadao Kuroki was a woodblock print artist active during the mid-20th century. Born In Nobeoka, Miyazaki prefecture, Kuroki first studied western-style painting (yoga). As he turned to the woodblock medium in 1934, he studied with leaders in the sosaku hanga (creative print) movement such as Un'ichi Hiratsuka (1895-1997) and Koshiro Onchi (1891-1955).
