About the artist
Kenji (Ken) Kusaka is a post-war Japanese woodblock print artist known for his bright, abstract compositions. Born in Tsuyama, Okayama prefecture in 1936, he studied woodblock printmaking under Koji Nagare. Kusaka earned international attention for his prints in the 1960s as he exhibited in Biennials in Florence, Lubjiana, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, and more. His prints can be found in institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art New York, the British Museum, National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo, and the Library of Congress.
