About the artist
Kiyonobu II was a print artist of the Torii school who was active during the mid-18th century. He was a prolific artist of actor prints in the narrow hosoban format. He began to use the name Kiyonobu II in 1929, following the death of Kiyonobu I. Soon after becoming the titular head of the Torii school in 1750, he is thought to have retired from printmaking. His last known print dates to 1760.
