About the artist
Hodaka Yoshida was born in Tokyo to Hiroshi Yoshida and Fujio Yoshida, both of whom were leading artists. He initially worked with oil paint, but shifted to woodblock prints in 1949. The style of Yoshida’s work changed throughout his career as he took inspiration from expressionism, Pop Art and photorealism. Equally varied was his subject matter, which originated from various cultures around the world. Despite the variation in style and subject, Hodaka Yoshida's works are recognizable in their expert composition and use of color.
