About the artist
Isamu Sakamoto is woodblock print artist known for his landscape prints. Born in Iwaki, Fukushima in 1931, he graduated from Musashino College of Fine Arts Junior College in 1961. Both a member and trustee of the Japan Print Society (Nihon Hanga Kai), Sakamoto worked as a middle school art teacher for many years and remains active in the arts in Fukushima. His works can be found in collections such as the Carnegie Museum of Art and the National Museum of Asian Art of the Smithsonian.
